Fitness Social Network Connects our Soldiers to Home
MyBodySite.com provides a fitness social network to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, helping soldiers connect to home and stay fit and healthy

LANTANA, FL, June 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Soldiers at home and abroad have a new opportunity to connect with friends and family around the globe and stay fit in the process. Mybodysite.com (MBS) is partnering with Forgottensoldiers.org to provide soldiers a fun, new way to stay in touch.
"Our men and women in uniform put themselves at risk everyday to protect our country," said John Cummings, founder of MBS. "This is just one way we can help show them the gratitude they deserve every day."

MBS is a social networking site in the vein of Facebook or Myspace but with a focus on health and fitness. Members who sign up for the site can connect with old friends, make new friends and stay in touch with everyone. They can post blogs about their workouts, eating habits, or anything they choose.

"What's great," said Cummings, "is when they update their status on MyBodySite.com, it can be set up to automatically tweet on their Twitter account, and soon even update their Facebook status."

It's the combination of all those services that will benefit soldiers in myriad ways. "When we ran into Mybodysite.com, we thought of it as a great opportunity to help our soldiers," said John Oldham, director of public relations for Forgottensoldiers.org. "We knew we wanted to incorporate that into our program, as an additional resource for soldiers to reach their goals and maintain their health."

Oldham explained that health is a major issue for soldiers deployed in the field. Soldiers face many health issues from limited access to showers and hygiene materials to worry over passing rigorous physical training tests required by their positions.

MBS will allow soldiers facing a PT test to enter data regarding their current fitness level and help them chart a course to where they need or want to be.

"Not only that, they can access Twitter through MBS and speak to folks here in the states, utilizing that as another communication system for our soldiers," Oldham said.

MBS offers much more. The site provides members with cutting edge fitness tools to help achieve their fitness goals such as: food and calorie tracking, workout logs, forums for ideas and encouragement, and goal specific groups.

"The main benefits people receive from joining weight loss or fitness groups are encouragement and accountability from people in the same situation," Cummings said. "MyBodySite.com provides that to our members so they don't have to shell out hundreds of dollars a month for some engineered eating program."

Plus it offers those same benefits to people who may be too self-conscious or too remote to take advantage of real time programs. And for those already living a fit and healthy lifestyle, the site offers a way to stay there by connecting them with new ideas and helping people of all shapes and sizes to connect with others who have the same goals - getting healthy and staying there.

"That's why this is a perfect fit for our men and women in uniform," said Cummings. "No one in the world relies on their health and fitness as much as the men and women who defend our country and our democracy around the globe."

The end result is that soldiers can feel more connected to home while accessing all the tools and information they need to stay fit and healthy. And, not only can they share their fitness experiences, but can also check in on the progress friends and family.
