Electronic Cigarettes Still Under Attack By Health Organizations And Special Interest Groups
The electronic cigarette became available in the United States in 2006, but some say the product has come under unfair fire from government and health organizations.
GAINESVILLE, FL, June 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Despite warnings on tobacco products for the past half century, people in the United States still continue to use them. Products like nicotine gums, patches, and other smoking cessation aids litter the market with promises of a smoke-free lifestyle in just a few weeks, but even so, many quitting attempts end in failure.
Enter the electronic cigarette. The new product was introduced to the United States market in 2006 and while some health organizations are attacking it as untested and potentially unsafe, users and distributors of the products disagree.
"These products have been tested and their ingredients made known. Nobody's hiding anything here," says Kyle Newton of Ecigaretteschoice.com. "No product is perfect and there will always be appropriate times and places to use and not to use it... we continue to try to address those issues with e-cigarettes, identify problem areas, and let our customers know as soon as we discover new information."
Marketed as a smoking alternative and as having benefits such as being cleaner, cheaper, and even greener, it may take the smoking population of the United States by storm. As coverage in mainstream news continues to expand, popularity with the public is increasing exponentially and there is no telling where it may end.
"This is a product with the potential to save hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lives every year," says Kyle. "3 days ago, a friend gave a kit to one of his employees' fathers who smoked a full 2 packs of cigarettes a day. When I heard from him this morning, he had gone from 2 packs a day, to 9 cigarettes in 2 days. Phenomenal... absolutely phenomenal."
Even though you can find testimonials and stories like this all over internet chat rooms, forums, and blogs, the FDA, politicians, and special interest groups still are mounting a relentless attack against these products while bearing no evidence to support their claims of danger or inefficacy.
