Iowa Floods Prompt Tide of Generosity from PRC Employees
Employees of Florida based PRC, LLC rally to support Iowa Team Members adversely affected by the recent disastrous floods.
/Florida News Articles/ - PLANTATION, FL, August 17, 2008 - Cedar Rapids, IA may seem a world away from the Sunshine State, but for employees of Plantation based PRC, LLC, the recent floods in the Midwestern State generated an outpouring of generosity from PRC Team Members across the country. Virtually every employee in PRC's Cedar Rapid center was adversely affected by the disaster, many losing everything, including their homes.
PRC Community Care, the company's philanthropic initiative, quickly mobilized employees in organizing a company wide Iowa Flood Relief effort, primarily comprised of fundraising campaigns supported by the employees. Through fun activities like car washes, 'dollar for jeans' day, 'walking taco' lunches and 50/50 raffles, Team Members from PRC Centers in Durant, Oklahoma, West Mifflin Pennsylvania, Jacksonville, North Carolina and from throughout Florida collected and donated almost 1500 pounds of clothing and over $5800 to purchase Visa gift cards for distribution to those employees whose lives and homes were ravaged by the disaster.
"All of the giving and concern shown by PRC employees from throughout the country led to an incredible sense of pride and employee satisfaction not only for those affected by the flooding, but by other employees that saw the generosity displayed by PRC," observed Dennis Crosser, PRC Iowa's Site Director.
Crosser reports that over 100 boxes of clothing, health and beauty items, and toys arrived at the Cedar Rapids PRC center and the donated items were distributed to employees and their families.
Since it was established in 1982, PRC has long been a major contributor to the local job market. The company has always demonstrated a deep and enduring commitment to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities in locations where it does business and where employees live.
In 2005, the company launched PRC Community Care with a greater vision as to how PRC and its employees can collectively support and impact the local community. "Our success as a company is closely linked to the vitality of the communities where we work and live," said David L. Wylie, PRC Communications Manager and Corporate Coordinator for the program. "PRC Community Care is the vehicle that allows our employees to reach out to those communities," Wylie explains.
